Join the Occupational Health & Safety team at the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority and help create safer, healthier workplaces for more than 1,400 healthcare professionals serving communities across the Northwest Territories
As an Occupational Health and Safety Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of employee wellness, injury prevention, immunization programs, workplace safety initiatives, and occupational health services. You'll work collaboratively with healthcare leaders, managers, frontline staff, and external partners to support a healthy workforce and strengthen healthcare delivery across the North.
This is more than a nursing role. It's an opportunity to be an educator, advisor, investigator, advocate, and leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead employee health, immunization, and wellness programs.
- Conduct health assessments, TB screening, and workplace exposure follow-up.
- Provide occupational health advice, support, and referrals to employees and managers.
- Coordinate workplace health and safety initiatives, investigations, and surveillance activities.
- Develop and deliver health promotion, education, and training programs.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Support policy development, program improvement, and legislative compliance.
- Analyze health and safety data and provide recommendations to improve employee wellbeing.
- Champion a culture of health, safety, and wellness across the organization.
Key Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, AND
- A minimum of three (3) years work-related experience in a health or social services discipline
Additional Requirements:
- Active or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU).
The following will be considered an asset:
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-C).
- Certificate or diploma in occupational health & safety from a recognized institution.
- Preference will be given to a candidate with experience in Occupational Health Nursing, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or Infection Control Nursing, or an equivalent combination of experience and education in a directly related field.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $54.44 per hour to $65.03 per hour (approximately $106,158 - $126,809.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
