Job Information


 As a member of the school team, you will support students with special needs and/or students requiring additional assistance to participate in learning and achieve success. You will assist with instruction, provide encouragement and day-to-day support, and work with teachers and other staff to help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

 

Your work will have a direct impact on students and their families by supporting student engagement, skill development, and success in school and beyond.

 

Key Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • Related training in supporting students with special needs, such as post-secondary education or professional development, including GNWT or TCSA workshops.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience working with children or youth in an educational, recreational, or supportive setting.

 

Relevant experience may include:

  • Substitute teaching or working as a student support assistant;
  • Daycare or day camp work;
  • Camp counselling; or
  • Coaching children or youth under 18.

 

Working Conditions

  • Work takes place primarily in a school environment.
  • Regular interaction with students, teachers, families, and other school staff is required.
  • The position may involve supporting students with diverse learning, behavioural, and physical needs.
  • Duties may require periods of standing, walking, and assisting students with daily activities.

The salary range for this position is from $37.90 per hour to $45.27 per hour (approximately $64,051 - $76,506.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,610, pro-rated to the number of hours worked.
