Job Information

Working as the Relief Custodian in the Katlodeeche First Nation community, this position will report to the Principal of the Chief Sunrise Education Centre.  The successful incumbent will perform custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the school is maintained as a healthy, safe, and sanitary environment for the students, staff and the general public.  This will have a direct impact on the ability of students to have a successful learning experience and on the ability of teachers to provide instruction in a positive learning environment. 

Maintaining a clean and orderly environment will also provide students and staff with a sense of pride in their school and help to role model appropriate behaviors.

The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities typically required for this position are;

  • Understanding of cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly in the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products.
  • Ability to work under little supervision.
  • Effective decision making, time management, problem solving, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local culture and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak a local Aboriginal language is an asset

Typically attained by;

The completion of Grade 10 and related experience; the completion of a WHMIS course

This job opening is for a Relief position where there are no established hours of work on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and may be required to report to work on an as and when required basis for facilities where services operate on a daily basis throughout the entire year.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $29.22 per hour to $34.91 per hour (approximately $56,979 - $68,075.) plus a pro-rated annual Northern Allowance of $2.32 per hour.
