YELLOWKNIFE (April 10, 2018) – Media are invited to attend a public information session as part of a Northwest Territories (NWT) Pests, Pathogens and Invasive Species Symposium April 11th, 2018 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife.
Arising Pest Problems in Northern Agriculture and Range Expansion and Blurring Boundaries will be presented during the session. Media will have the opportunity to meet and interview presenters and GNWT symposium representatives Drs. Suzanne Carrière and Heather Fenton.
The week-long symposium is being hosted by NWT Species at Risk in partnership with the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) from April 9-13 and is part of a collaborative effort to establish a council to help control, monitor, and prevent the spread of pests, pathogens and invasive species in the NWT. Participants will learn how these species are threats to the biodiversity of the NWT, about the experiences of neighbouring jurisdictions and how to help and take action.
