15:48 Officer McDonald received information from the public that a spill had occurred on Mackenzie drive by HRN contracting. 16:04 Officer McDonald arrived on the scene and observed at 2.5' wide by approx 500 metre long stain on Mackenzie drive. Officer McDonald seen a loader parked on the side of the road at the end of trail and it was leaking fluid from underneath the back right side. Officer McDonald was advised by HRN mechanic that a hydraulic house blew. Officer McDonald observed a drip tray catching the hydraulic fluid. Spill pads was placed on the ground on the right side of the loader and a cloth spill boom to catch any fluid going down the bank. Officer McDonald talked to Chris Chivers, supervisor at HRN and advised that the clean had to happen right away due to it being a public road. Chris Chivers advised Officer McDonald that all necessary equipment will be utilized to clean up the spill. Officer McDonald observed an end dump, another loader and a grader. The grader started at the beginning of the spill mark, across from driveway 247 Mackenzie to the end of the spill trail. The grader created a windrow, the grader dug down about 2" to catch the hyrdraulic fluid. The windrow was then picked up by the load and placed into the end dump. The clean up on Mackenzie drive was finished at 17:30. 17:20 Officer McDonald advised Chris Chivers that the spill on the bank had to be cleaned up. Chris advised Officer McDonald that he will have staff work on it at 0700 on September 26th September 26 @ 0939 Chris Chivers called Officer McDonald to advise that he was heading down to the spill site on Mackenzie drive. Officer McDonald advised that she was on her way to follow up on what was completed. Officer McDonald arrived at 0945 and checked the area of concern. The area was dug up 3 inches by hand, using hand tools and then the soil was placed into the bucket of the loader to be brought back to the HRN yard for storage. Officer McDonald advised Mr. Chivers that she need to be advised as to what HRN is planning on doing with the contaminated soil. Mr. Chivers advised that he will be storing it in the yard for now. Follow up required from HRN.
