Mr. Mickalyk advised that nothing has been done at the site because he is too busy. Officer McDonald advised Mr. Mickalyk that the snow is melting and there is a ditch right behind the fire hall therefore that site has to be attended to today. An update at 17:00 is to be given to Officer McDonald. |

Mr. Mickalyk was using the bobcat to pick up the contaminated snow and then using manual shovels. Officer McDonald advised Mr. Mickalyk that there is still a strong odor of fuel at the spill site and the ground is still contaminated with fuel. Officer McDonald showed Mr. Mickalyk the are of concern. Mr. Mickalyk is to advise Officer McDonald the progress on the site. |

Contaminated snow and soil stored at C Can at practice site. Officer McDonald inspected the spill site and can still smell a strong odor of fuel and can see the fuel under the snow that was disturbed. Officer McDonald contacted Gary Mickalyk that the area needs more clean up. A spill report with an update was to be faxed by the fire chief to the spill line. |

| Fri, 04/16/2021 - 13:12 by laurel_mcdonald December 7, 2021 at 13:57 Officer McDonald went to the spill site. A drip tray was located underneath the drip leg. A strong odor of heating fuel as soon as you went to the back of the buidling towards the area of contamination. Staining could be seen on the ground below the piping closest to the tank. Officer McDonald contacted the Utilities Manager-Gary Mickalyk and advised the Fire Chief is responsible for the site. Officer McDonald contacted the fire chief, Randy whom stated that he found the spill. He stated it looked like someone backed into the pipe causing a break, fuel was spraying on the ground. Fuel was pumped out of tank in order to fix the broken pipe. Scraped up contaminated snow and soil and it is stored at the fire training site near the dump. Contaminated site is approximately 14' x 12'. Officer McDonald advised the fire chief that more clean up is required on the site. A crew was to be onsite on December 8, 2020. |

| Mon, 12/07/2020 - 10:41 by HamiltonCSR Randy Sinasac, 867-587-3700 ,fire chief of the Fire Department of Norman Wells, Northwest Territories , reporting a new spill, that happened last night ,Sunday December 6th,2020 on land directly at the rear of our fire station building , at 3 Mackenzie Drive,Norman Wells ,Northwest Territories. At the SE corner of it ,about 20 litres of heating fuel oil ,we recovered all of it with a kit.The heating oil tank pipe was hit by someone ,causing a leak,maybe by snow removal people equipment .We also removed all snow fuel got spilled onto and put into containers, and put onto our fire training site.This is all completely mitigated ,I will fill the online form out and fax into you as well.
