Spill entered by the NEEC Notification Desk. LTa. Location of spill: 18 105 Street, Hay River, NT Caller is an enforcement officer from the Town of Hay River. Caller reports that resident on 18 105 Street has repeatedly refused to pump out their septic tank, which has been causing multiple sewage land spills since March 31, 2021. Caller suspects the residents do not want to pay for disposal service. On this particular occurrence, the Town of Hay River has employed Hay River Disposals Ltd. to pump out the tank. However, the land spill (to the ground and under the trailer) is the resident’s responsibility to clean. Caller estimates less than 75 liters of sewage has been spilled on the ground. No waterways and no drains have been affected. Caller worried that sewage spill on the land might eventually negatively affect the well from which citizens drink.
