Officer Shawn MAXWELL responded to and assessed the scene of the reported spill on the evening of May 23, 2024. There was a faint smell of diesel at the site upon arrival but that was to be expected. There does not appear to be any significant contamination of the site. The spill volume appears to have minimal. Additionally, as is evident in the updated pictures, it appears that there may have been some effort of a clean up. There is what seems to be a freshly dug hole under the fuel tank, presumably from an effort to remove contaminated soil. This is a good thing, but would recommend that the hole be back-filled soon to avoid any potential issues with possible destabilization of the fuel tank in the future which could lead to a much larger spill if the tank were to fall.
