The GNWT Climate Services Support Desk (Support Desk) provides a one-stop access point for technical, scientific, and research-related climate change inquiries. The Support Desk will provide you with the most accurate and NWT-relevant information related to climate change in the NWT.

The Support Desk is currently in a pilot phase. An evaluation will be completed to assess the service, its usage service and the capacity needed to expand it.

• GNWT staff
• Community government staff and representatives
• Indigenous government and Indigenous organization staff and representatives

Scope of Support Desk Services

Check the list below to know if your inquiry is eligible.

In-scope inquiries include:

• NWT climate stations data and climate change projections
• NWT greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
• Climate and climate change science and technical questions
• Identification of reliable and datasets and resources
• Climate risk maps (when publicly available)
• Community-specific historical climate data and reports
• Climate change academic research and reports in the NWT

Out-of-scope inquiries include:

• Real-time weather forecasts and emergency alerts
• Media requests
• Questions related to environmental permits, land-use applications, or regulatory approvals
• Requests involving lobbying, political opinions, or discussion of climate policies
• Legal interpretations, personal liability assessments, or financial advice
• Detailed infrastructure design, site-specific engineering advice, or customized resilience plans
• Requests related to Indigenous Knowledge unless such information has been publicly shared with consent
