Łue Túé Sųlái Area

November 10, 2010 - The Łue Túé Sųlái area in the Dehcho region has been recommended as a Candidate Conservation Area under the NWT Protected Areas Strategy.

In November of 2009, the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) received a proposal from the Jean Marie River First Nation requesting protection of Łue Túé Sųlái, also known as Five Fish Lakes. During the GNWT review of the proposal, it was decided ITI should sponsor the area.

Northwest Territories Tourism

November 2, 2010 - Minister Bob McLeod explained how the department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is consulting with tourism stakeholders and the public on what a new tourism strategy would look like.


Mr. Speaker, the Northwest Territories’ tourism industry has great potential to help us realize the 16th Legislative Assembly’s goal of creating a diversified economy that provides all communities and regions with opportunities and choices.

Support to Traditional Economy

October 28, 2010 - The Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Investment, Bob McLeod, outlined a few programs that support the traditional economy in the NWT.


Mr. Speaker, in a modern world filled with laptop computers, cell phones and iPods, traditional life skills such as trapping and boat building that have served our people so well in the past are in danger of being lost.

National Marketing Campaign

October 25, 2010 - Today, Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Investment, Bob McLeod, talked about the Government's innovative multi-year campaign, "Come Make Your Mark," which is designed to increase awareness across Canada of the tremendous career opportunities available in the Northwest Territories in an effort to get Canadians to live and work here long-term.


Mr. Speaker, the Northwest Territories has a very bright future. The economic opportunities our territory possesses in tourism, mining, oil and gas and more are significant.

Local Food Production

October 21, 2010 -The Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) Bob McLeod is pleased to announce that community gardeners have harvested a bumper crop of produce ranging from potatoes and carrots to spinach and lettuce.

Revised Business Incentive Policy

October 19, 2010 - Today, the Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Investment Bob McLeod was pleased to report that the Government of the Northwest Territories has revised the Business Incentive Policy after two years of consultations with Members of the Legislative Assembly, the Northwest Territories business community, Aboriginal governments and other interested parties.
