June 6, 2011 - NWT volunteers will be recognized at the 2011 Outstanding Volunteer Award ceremony, in Yellowknife on Friday, June 10. The annual awards, presented by Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA), are an opportunity to recognize volunteers and volunteer organizations for their outstanding contributions to communities across the territory.
“The people we recognize with the Outstanding Volunteer Awards selflessly devote their time to making our communities a better place,” said Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs, Robert C. McLeod.
“MACA and our partner, the Northwest Territories Association of Communities, are grateful to these outstanding volunteers who add so much to our communities. They are always leading by example and inspiring others to use their passion to take action.”
Recipients of the NWT Outstanding Volunteer Awards for 2011 are:
• Outstanding Elder Award – Cappy Elkin, Yellowknife
• Outstanding Youth Award – Hunter Gray, Norman Wells
• Outstanding Individual Award – Donald Finnamore, Yellowknife
