The Government of the Northwest Territories announced mandate highlights today in the second Premier’s Territorial Address.

The Address, which this year is being shared in video format, provides an opportunity for the Premier to give updates on the GNWT’s progress toward its Mandate, reflect on the previous year, and speak to the government’s vision and priorities for the year ahead. It also provides an opportunity to acknowledge key partners who have played a vital role in this important work. 

This annual Address is intended to enhance public accountability and transparency, in coordination with the Sessional Statement and Budget Address that will follow later this week.

Quick Facts

• This is the second Premier’s Territorial Address and occurs annually prior to the first sitting in the new year.
• It is an opportunity for the GNWT to report on Mandate progress to NWT residents, including acknowledging the work still to come.
• Additionally, it’s an opportunity to highlight the collaborative governance and partnerships demonstrated through with entities like the Council of Leaders and the Intergovernmental Council, which are innovative and leading practices in Canada.
