The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), the Union of Northern Workers (UNW), the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority (HRHSSA) have reached agreement on the transition of HRHSSA into the public service.
Effective April 1, 2027, HRHSSA will join the public service. All parties will work together over the coming year to ensure that this transition is straightforward and stable for employees and residents so that health and social services in Hay River will continue without interruption.
Quick facts
- HRHSSA will join the public service on April 1, 2027.
- Services to Hay River residents will not change.
- Impacted employees will perform the same jobs on April 1, 2027 as they did on March 31, 2027.
- There will be no changes to duties, work schedules, work location, reporting relationships, pay, leave, or other working conditions because of the migration.
- The current HRHSSA Collective Agreement will be extended for one year, with limited exceptions to protect employee compensation.
- As of April 1, 2027, migrating unionized employees will be covered by the terms and conditions negotiated between the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Union of Northern Workers.
