The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), in partnership with the Sport North Federation, is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 High Performance Athlete Grant (HPAG). All applications and required documentation must be submitted by October 16, 2026.
The HPAG provides financial support to Northwest Territories athletes competing at the highest levels of sport. Funding helps offset costs associated with training, travel, coaching, equipment, and competition outside the NWT.
Funding allocations are based on an athlete's achievements and recognition at the national and international level.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the High Performance Athlete Grant, applicants must:
- Be a member in good standing of a recognized National or Territorial Sport Organization
- Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
- Be a resident of the Northwest Territories
- Not be employed full-time (over 20 hours per week)
- Not be receiving payment from any professional sport league or team
- Reside outside the NWT during the competitive season of their sport
