YELLOWKNIFE (April 2, 2025) – Applications for muskox tags are being accepted for the 2025-26 hunting season as of April 1, 2025. Northwest Territories’ (NWT) residents with a Resident Hunting Licence or a General Hunting Licence are able to apply for muskox tags in the Sahtu and North Slave areas. Applications can be obtained at your regional Environment and Climate Change office. All applications must be postmarked before May 15, 2025.

The draw will take place on May 30, 2025, and winners will be contacted during the first week of June. 

Tags will not be awarded to hunters who have received a muskox tag in the last four seasons. If you are awarded a muskox tag it must be purchased before July 1, 2025, through your local Environment and Climate Change office. If you get a tag, you're ineligible for the next four years in any zone draw for muskox.

Please note there is mandatory harvest reporting to the local Environment and Climate Change office.
