Essential dredging work planned at Liard River Ferry Landings

Public Service Announcement

Fort Simpson — July 15, 2024

To ensure a safe navigation path for the M.V. Lafferty Ferry, essential dredging work at the Liard River Ferry Landings will be conducted between August 15 and September 18, 2024.

Located at kilometer 457 on Highway 1 near Fort Simpson, a long-reach excavator will remove approximately 8,000 cubic meters of material such as boulders, cobbles and other sediment from the ferry’s path. Work should not delay or change the ferry operation schedule, but the public will be advised of any changes as needed.

For more information on the dredging project, including a map of the work area, please visit the project page.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain safe and efficient navigation for the Liard River Ferry.
