Effective today, fuel prices will be updated in 12 of 16 communities serviced by the Department of Infrastructure’s Petroleum Products Program.
Prices are being updated in Colville Lake, Délı̨nę, Fort Good Hope, Gametì, Jean Marie River, Nahanni Butte, Sambaa K’e Tsiigehtchic. Tulita, Wekweètì, Whatì, and Wrigley to reflect the cost of fuel delivered through the 2024/25 winter resupply program. In some instances, the changes are small and only impact a few fuel types.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is required to set retail fuel prices at amounts that recover the full laid-in cost of fuel, which includes the wholesale purchase cost and all transportation costs. Prices are adjusted at least twice per calendar year, after the summer barge resupply and after the winter road resupply, to correspond with changes to the cost of petroleum products and transporting these products to communities. The next price change is scheduled for February 2026.
The Department of Infrastructure manages the purchase, transportation and storage of bulk petroleum products for these 16 NWT communities that are not serviced by the private sector: Colville Lake, Délı̨nę, Fort Good Hope, Gametì, Jean Marie River, Łutselk’e, Nahanni Butte, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour, Sambaa K’e Tsiigehtchic. Tulita, Ulukhaktok, Wekweètì, Whatì, and Wrigley.
