Applications for funding will be accepted until October 31, 2023. For more information about this funding program and to fill out an application form, visit: https://www.eia.gov.nt.ca/en/priorities/strengthening-relations-indigenous-governments/funding-national-day-truth-and

The GNWT has released a What We Heard report summarizing the results of the public engagement on the best ways to support and acknowledge the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The results of the engagement highlighted the importance of providing funding for opportunities to educate and recognize the legacy of residential school and survivors through community events.

The engagement included an online public survey, direct feedback from Indigenous governments and Indigenous organizations through existing forums, such as the Council of Leaders, and additional assistance and support for Elders who wished to participate.
