The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has updated the online self-serve Proof of Vaccination tool. The update allows people with out-of-territory health care cards to use this self-serve online tool to get their Proof of Vaccine Credential (PVC) for vaccine dose they received in the NWT.
Previously, only people with an NWT health care card could use the self-serve form. This improvement will help new NWT residents, and non-residents working in remote worksites to access their PVC quickly and easily. The GNWT will continue to improve and update its Proof of Vaccination processes.
If you received doses of COVID-19 vaccine outside of the NWT, you still need to get your proof of vaccination from that province, territory, or country.
This improvement will also make it easier for people to meet the new federal travel requirements. As of October 30th, the Government of Canada requires people boarding flights, trains and cruise ships to provide proof of vaccination. There are some limited exceptions. Review the Government of Canada’s travel advice and check with your airline for details before you fly. You should also review the travel restrictions in place for each of your planned destinations.
If you’re planning to travel, you are encouraged to get your PVC as soon as possible, and at least a week before your departure date. If you have trouble accessing your PVC online, you will need to visit an in-person pickup location.
