In response to the ongoing syphilis outbreak declared in 2019, and an increased rate of other sexually-transmitted infections (STIs), the Government of the Northwest Territories will open a temporary STI clinic in Yellowknife on October 1, 2024.
The clinic will offer a safe, confidential space for testing and treating Sexually Transmitted and Blood Borne Infection (STBBI). It will stay open for at least a year while there is heightened concern about the transmission of STBBIs.
The clinic will offer quick and convenient testing and treatment in a single location, with appointment details only being accessible to staff working in the clinic and separate from your regular medical file.
You can visit the clinic at 487 Range Lake Road, Unit 103, with both appointments and walk-ins welcome. To book an appointment, visit www.rlwclinic.com. A valid Northwest Territories health care card is required for free services, otherwise you will be required to pay.
Clinic hours:
- Monday to Friday: 4:00 – 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 1:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Hours may change depending on staff availability and statutory holidays, so residents are encouraged to book an appointment online to confirm availability.
Maintaining your sexual health is an important part of overall health and wellness. Regular testing is encouraged for anyone who is sexually-active or experiencing signs and symptoms of an STI. Getting treated is easy. Getting tested is easier.
