The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) wants your feedback on the territory’s minimum wage through a five-minute survey. Your responses are anonymous and results are published each year.
In 2022, the GNWT updated the way minimum wage is set. The minimum wage is now adjusted each year using a formula based on changes in the cost of living (Yellowknife’s Consumer Price Index) and changes in the average hourly wage in the NWT from the previous year.
In 2024, the GNWT began conducting annual surveys to better understand the impacts of using this new formula to adjust the minimum wage. While the GNWT will continue to use this formula, public feedback may help guide future decisions about the minimum wage. Results from last year’s survey are available in a What We Heard Report, which can be accessed here.
The current minimum wage in the Northwest Territories is $16.70 per hour. Adjustments take effect every year on September 1.
Complete the survey here by February 27, 2025.
