Have Your Say on Income Assistance

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — February 15, 2022

The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) is seeking feedback on the Income Assistance program in the Northwest Territories (NWT). The Income Assistance program provides financial assistance to Northerners to help meet basic and enhanced needs.  The program encourages and supports greater self-reliance, as individual capacity allows, to improve quality of lives.

NWT residents are invited to complete a survey about the Income Assistance program either online or at your local ECE Service Centre. The survey closes on March 11 2022.

ECE will also be holding engagement sessions with Indigenous Governments, various partners and key stakeholders to better inform the future of Income Assistance in the NWT.

A summary of the engagement results will be shared in a What We Heard Report. ECE will use the feedback from Indigenous Governments, partners and stakeholders as well as the survey results to improve the existing Income Assistance program and develop a new Income Assistance program for seniors and persons with disabilities.
