Have your say on proposed changes to Student Record Regulations

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — June 16, 2026

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is inviting residents to provide feedback on proposed changes to the Student Record Regulations under the Education Act.

The proposed amendments support the implementation of Bill 81, An Act to Amend the Education Act, No. 2, and include updates related to student program decisions.

The proposed amendments would establish a formal process for obtaining parental consent for modifications to a student’s school program, as required under new provisions of the Education Act. These changes are intended to improve administrative clarity.

Public input will help ensure the regulations are aligned with the needs of students, families, and education partners.

The proposed regulations are available for review on the GNWT Public Engagement Portal. Residents can provide feedback by emailing educationoperations@gov.nt.ca by July 15, 2026.

For more information and to participate, visit the GNWT Public Engagement Portal.
