The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking input from the public about the Mackenzie Valley Highway (MVH) located between Wrigley and Norman Wells. When completed, the MVH will be a two-lane gravel highway from Wrigley to Norman Wells, approximately 321 kilometres in length.
We invite you to visit the GNWT’s Public Engagement website between April 12 and May 27, 2022 to provide feedback. There you can access:
- An interactive map of the proposed MVH route, including proposed quarries and borrow sources.
- An online forum for open discussion with the project team.
- An invitation to reach out to the project team directly.
Targeted engagement is also underway with four virtual meetings taking place between April 12-14, 2022. Invitations to these meetings have been sent to organizations and individuals on the MVH stakeholder registry. Dehcho and Sahtu community members who would like to attend one of these workshops are invited to reach out to MVH@gov.nt.ca.
This round of engagement is specifically focused on reviewing the proposed highway route location (alignment), location of quarries and borrow sources, construction activities (clearing, construction camps, laydown areas, water use and waste management). Residents may also share feedback about other concerns and interests. The information collected will be used to inform the design and the Developer’s Assessment Report .
