The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is inviting Northwest Territories (NWT) residents to have their say on the development of two action plans: an Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Sustainable Livelihoods Action Plan and a GNWT Traditional Knowledge Action Plan.
The GNWT is looking to hear from residents about challenges, needs, opportunities and priorities related to country foods, traditional economies, land-based learning and traditional knowledge. Residents are encouraged to help us identify potential actions the GNWT can take to support community-driven sustainable livelihoods programs and initiatives.
Public engagement sessions will be held in communities across the NWT from February until April 2019. Currently scheduled sessions include:
- Hay River – February 26, 7-9 p.m. – Recreation Centre
- Inuvik – March 19, 2019, 7-9 p.m. – Midnight Sun Complex
Those who wish to participate in a language other than English are asked to call 867-767-9231, ext. 53041. Information on future community engagement sessions and opportunities will be available online at www.enr.gov.nt.ca.
Any residents who are unable to attend a community meeting but wish to provide input can send comments by email to ontheland@gov.ca
The deadline to submit comments is April 20, 2019.
