July 28, 2011 - The Department of Health and Social Services (HSS) is broadcasting its messages to Northwest Territories (NWT) Residents on its new YouTube Channel.
HSS has launched its official YouTube Channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/HSSCommunications. The channel has informational videos on public health, environmental health, social services, addictions and seniors programming.
“The Department’s YouTube Channel provides another way people can learn about our programs and services,” said Minister of HSS J. Michael Miltenberger. “The channel also has video content in the various NWT official languages. I encourage you to log on to YouTube and subscribe to our channel in order to be notified when new videos are added.”
YouTube search is the second most used search engine on the Internet (Google is number one). It exceeds 2 billion views a day, and 24 hours of video is uploaded every minute. The average user spends 15 minutes a day on YouTube. YouTube, like other social media has become the communication tool for federal and provincial governments as people are integrating it into their lifestyles. HSS currently has 37 videos on its channel.
