Yellowknife — October 15, 2025
A contract for 84 new housing units has been awarded to Arcan Construction Ltd., working with METCAN Building Solutions, an NWT manufacturer that builds homes in Hay River, Northwest Territories.
This milestone reflects Housing NWT’s commitment to address urgent housing needs across the territory, while also supporting the NWT economy. This contract represents a portion of the 98 planned units across nine communities.
This project is being funded through a portion of Housing NWT’s three-year (2025-2026 to 2027-2028) $150 million capital plan. The remaining funds will support other housing priorities, including major repairs, additional builds, and ongoing improvements to housing in communities across the NWT.
Plans for the remaining 14 units of this housing initiative will be announced at a later date. Housing NWT will continue to share updates as housing projects move forward.
