Applications are now open for the Housing NWT Memorial Scholarships to support residents of the Northwest Territories pursuing post-secondary education in a field related to housing.
Applications are open until May 31, 2026, for the following scholarships:
- Alfred Moses Memorial Scholarship - awarded to students who have completed high school but not yet begun their post-secondary education.
- Tom Williams Memorial Scholarship - awarded to students who have already begun a post-secondary program.
A total of 12 scholarships for $1,000 each are available annually, with two awarded in each Housing NWT district, and two in Yellowknife. These scholarships recognize and celebrate students whose studies may contribute to positive solutions to housing issues across the Northwest Territories.
The scholarships are named in memory of two influential figures in the history of Housing NWT, each of whom demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing housing challenges and supporting youth across the territory: Tom Williams, former President and CEO of Housing NWT, and Alfred Moses, former Minister Responsible for Housing and MLA for Inuvik Boot Lake.
This program is administered in partnership with the Yellowknife Community Foundation. For more information and to apply, please visit the Yellowknife Community Foundation’s website: https://www.ykcf.ca/student-awards-scholarships/
