The itinerary for the Northwest Territories (NWT) portion of the Royal Tour scheduled for next month has been made public and will include a full-day of events that will focus on Indigenous culture, history and language, climate change, northern food production, and community service.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will land in Yellowknife on May 19, 2022 to wrap up the final leg of their thee-day tour that includes stops in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ottawa, Ontario. They will be participating in a number of events and activities during the day, including visits to the community of Dettah, Fred Henne Territorial Park, and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife.
Their Royal Highnesses will also have an opportunity to meet with Indigenous leaders from across the Northwest Territories during their visit.

- Their Royal Highnesses will visit Dettah to take part in various community events and experience local cultural practices and traditions. This will include a community welcome, an opening prayer, a traditional drumming circle and a feeding the fire ceremony.
- As part of the visit to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, Their Royal Highnesses will meet with local food producers, and take part in a discussion about Treaty 11 at an exhibit from the Tłı̨chǫ Government.
- Their Royal Highnesses will unveil a plaque at the Northwest Territories Jubilee Garden as part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
- The Prince of Wales will be appointed an Honorary Canadian Ranger during a visit with Rangers to commemorate the organization’s 75th Anniversary.
- The Prince of Wales will meet with local experts to discuss the impact of climate change in the Northwest Territories and the importance of Indigenous-led initiatives to address these challenges.
- The Duchess of Cornwall will visit a YWCA traditional housing centre for women and their children that offers a stable, safe and affordable place to call home
- The upcoming Royal Tour is part of the year-long celebrations marking the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
