The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking individuals from several regions to join Social Assistance Appeal Committees for three-year terms.
There are six regional Committees in the Northwest Territories, with members being sought for the following regions:
- Dehcho
- North Slave
- Sahtu
- Tłı̨chǫ
Social Assistance Appeal Committees hear appeals from Income Assistance clients who disagree with decisions made by program staff.
The Committees operate under the authority of the Social Assistance Act and may uphold, reverse, or modify a decision. Depending on the region, committee members work approximately 2-4 hours a month and are paid an honorarium.
