Julie Green, Minister Responsible for Persons with Disabilities, is pleased to announce Linda Mabbitt as the recipient of the 2023 Minister Responsible for Persons with Disabilities’ Award for Accessibility and Inclusion. Linda’s unwavering commitment for persons with disabilities, coupled with her exceptional volunteer work, has made her a champion of inclusivity.

For over 30 years, Linda Mabbitt has dedicated herself to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities in Fort Smith. As President of the Fort Smith Society for Disabled Persons, Linda played a key role in organizing recreational activities, social events, and learning opportunities. Linda’s direct involvement with persons with disabilities reflects her deep commitment to fostering inclusion and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone.

The Minister Responsible for Persons with Disabilities Award for Accessibility and Inclusion is presented annually to recognize contributions to enhancing accessibility and fostering inclusivity in the NWT.
