Marine Transportation Services (MTS) has set its cargo acceptance dates and sailing schedule for the 2026 season.
Cargo acceptance dates are the final dates MTS will receive cargo at its terminals for delivery to communities across the Mackenzie River system, Great Slave Lake and the Western Arctic.
Customers are encouraged to review the schedule and plan shipments early. Cargo received after the cut-off dates may not be accepted.
Each year, MTS works with hydrologists and monitors snowpack and river conditions to determine when it is safe and efficient to begin sailing. Final dates are set based on current water levels to support safe navigation and reliable delivery.
The 2026 sailing season is expected to begin in mid-June / early July, with deliveries continuing through the summer and into the fall, depending on conditions.
Customers should be aware that sailing schedules may change due to weather or river conditions. MTS will continue to provide updates throughout the season.
