Yellowknife (June 16, 2025) - Minister of Finance Caroline Wawzonek today recognized the invaluable contributions of public servants across the Northwest Territories in honour of National Public Service Week, June 16 to 20, 2025.
“National Public Service Week is a special time to celebrate the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of public servants who serve Northerners every day,” said Minister Wawzonek. “Their commitment helps build stronger, healthier communities and supports the wellbeing of all residents across the Northwest Territories.”
Since 1992, National Public Service Week has recognized the efforts of federal public service employees who work to deliver essential programs and services to Canadians. In the Northwest Territories, public servants play a critical role in meeting unique regional challenges, from delivering front-line services in remote communities to developing policies that reflect Northern realities.
“This week is a chance for us all to reflect on the important role public servants play in our government and in our communities,” added Minister Wawzonek. “Their dedication and expertise drive innovation and progress, often under challenging circumstances, and their work directly impacts the quality of life for people throughout the territory.”
To celebrate, the Government of the Northwest Territories is hosting a series of events designed to bring public servants together, promote team spirit, and recognize their outstanding contributions. Events include themed days, social gatherings, and friendly competitions, all aimed at fostering connection and pride in public service.
“On behalf of the Government of the Northwest Territories, I want to extend my thanks to all public servants for their tireless work and commitment,” said Minister Wawzonek. “Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and during National Public Service Week, we honour and celebrate you.”
