Ministerial Activities Advisory for the week of September 8-14, 2026

Ministerial Travel

• Minister Wawzonek will be traveling to Norman Wells from September 7-8 with the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and the Honourable Rebecca Alty, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations to attend an announcement by the Government of Canada and the Government of Northwest Territories to support the construction of the Mackenzie Valley Highway.
• Premier Simpson and Minister Cleveland will be traveling to Toronto, ON, from September 13-15 to attend the Canada Investment Summit.

Meetings and Appearances

• Minister Cleveland will be meeting with NWT Tourism on September 8 in Yellowknife.
• Minister Kuptana will be attending a virtual Federal-Provincial-Territorial meeting of the Ministers responsible for Housing on September 8 and will meet with provincial and territorial Ministers responsible for Housing (virtually) beforehand.
• Minister Wawzonek will be meeting with Mr. Avery Shenfeld, CIBC Chief Economist on September 9 in Yellowknife.
• Minister Wawzonek, Minister Cleveland and Minister Macdonald will attend Building the North: GNWT Industry Days in Yellowknife on September 9 and 10, 2026, and:
  • Minister Wawzonek will provide opening remarks on September 9, “A Coordinated Vision for Northern Growth”
  • Minister Cleveland will provide opening remarks on September 10, “Building Northern Capacity to Deliver,” and announce a new funding program.
• Minister McKay will be attending a Virtual Meeting with Minister Tattuinee, Minister Responsible for Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission of Nunavut on September 11.
• Minister Macdonald and Minister Semmler will be attending the YWCA NWT 60th Anniversary Celebration on September 12 in Yellowknife.
