National Addictions Awareness Week 2024: Forging Connections

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — November 25, 2024

National Addictions Awareness Week takes place across Canada every year in the month of November. This marks an important opportunity for people to learn more about prevention and harm reduction, to talk about treatment and recovery, and to discuss solutions for change. This year’s theme of Forging Connections highlights the power of community, support, and connection on the path to overcoming addictions.

Addictions affect individuals, families and entire communities. Let’s work together to forge connections and strengthen bonds within Northwest Territories communities to support healthier, more resilient residents.

Throughout the week of November 24-30, residents can use the hashtag #NAAW2024 INSERT HERE on social media to share how they and their community are helping.

Residents in need of support can visit their community counsellor, wellness worker, local health centre, or contact 8-1-1 to speak with a registered nurse.
