HAY RIVER (November 8, 2013) – The Business Incentive Policy office has now officially moved to Hay River from Yellowknife, creating four jobs in the community and marking an important move in the decentralization of jobs from Headquarters to other Northwest Territories communities.
Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay greeted the grand opening attendees today and joined Kim Wilkins, new office manager, in cutting the ribbon at the new office location, located on the second floor of the Royal Bank building.
“Relocating this office to Hay River demonstrates our government’s commitment to creating jobs in communities and spreading the social, economic and employment benefits of government activity throughout the NWT,” said Minister Ramsay. “The Business Incentive Policy supports the creation and growth of competitive businesses as a foundation for our economy by providing an incentive to NWT-based businesses that recognizes the higher cost of doing business in the North.”
The Government of the Northwest Territories is committed to increasing employment opportunities where they are needed most through decentralization and other initiatives for creating and staffing jobs in communities. All departments will continue to look for opportunities to increase community employment, fulfilling an important priority of the 17th Legislative Assembly.
