December 20, 2011 – Premier Bob McLeod today announced the appointments of Ms. Gloria Iatridis as Associate Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Employment, of Ms. Kelly Kaylo as Assistant Deputy Minister, Programs and Operations with Industry, Tourism and Investment and of Ms. Sharilyn Alexander as Assistant Deputy Minister of Human Resources.
Ms. Iatridis is Inuvialuit and was born and raised in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. She is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister, Advanced Education and Income Security with Education, Culture and Employment. She is Chair of the Tri-territorial Working Group on Northern University Development and was Chair of the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Anti-Poverty Working Group. She has also been responsible for the GNWT’s Income Security Review, NWT Labour Force Development Framework, establishment of the NWT Nominee Program and Canada/NWT labour market agreements.
Ms. Kaylo is a lifelong Northerner with more than 30 years of extensive experience as an executive in the private and public sectors, particularly in the areas of transportation, tourism, mining, oil and gas, and small business. She has also worked extensively with self-government and land claims organizations and is currently the owner of a communications consulting firm. Ms. Kaylo currently chairs the Tourism Marketing Advisory Council for the NWT and was appointed to the Aboriginal Tourism Champions Advisory Council. A past President of the NWT Chamber of Commerce and Vice-Chair of the Power Corporation, Ms. Kaylo will assume her new role as Assistant Deputy Minister with ITI on January 16, 2012.
Ms. Alexander was raised in the Northwest Territories and has more than 28 years of experience with the Government of the Northwest Territories, including 21 years in human resources positions. She is currently the Director of Corporate Human Resources for the Department of Human Resources and brings past experience in the areas of collective bargaining, labour relations, training and development, workforce planning, recruitment and retention, job evaluation, staffing, benefits administration, payroll and program and policy development to her new position.
