The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is advising residents of Tuktoyaktuk of a planned telecommunications service disruption during scheduled network maintenance by Northwestel between Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk.
The work will take place on August 17, 2026, from 12:01 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. (MST). During this period, customers may experience interruptions to Fiber Internet, Fiber Voice, DSL Internet, and other affected telecommunications services, including 9-1-1 emergency calling services. Bell Mobility services will not be affected.
Residents are reminded to call 9-1-1 first in an emergency. If you are unable to reach 9-1-1 during the maintenance window, seek assistance through alternative means where available.
For non-urgent health advice, call 8-1-1 to speak with a registered nurse.
If you cannot reach emergency services by phone:
- Proceed to your local RCMP detachment in person for police assistance.
- For urgent medical needs, go directly to the local health centre.
- Contact community emergency response personnel through available local channels.
The GNWT appreciates residents' patience and understanding while this essential maintenance work is completed.
