News Releases

YELLOWKNIFE (January 16, 2012) -- Souvenir licence plates featuring new designs and the trademarked polar bear shape are now available through Northwest Territories Tourism (NWTT), which has been designated as the exclusive distributor of NWT souvenir plates around the world. The Government of Northwest Territories has designated the organization as the sole distributor of the plate to retailers, and members of the public can purchase individual plates through the NWTT website.

Transportation Minister and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay says the new distribution agreement will benefit both the GNWT and NWT Tourism. “The polar bear licence plate is recognized around the world as a symbol of the Northwest Territories,” he said. “This partnership with NWT Tourism will ensure that this souvenir plate will promote the Northwest Territories as a tourist destination in the years to come.”

The Chair of NWT Tourism, Jenni Bruce, welcomes the opportunity to manage the souvenir plate program. “These beautiful souvenir plates support our tourism marketing brand and will draw more attention to our spectacular destination,” remarked Ms. Bruce.

Distributors and individuals who wish to obtain an NWT souvenir plate can place an order on the NWT Tourism site, contact the NWTT office at (867) 873-5007, or visit local retailers. For a complete list of retailers, please view the Special Orders tab of the webstore.
