The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) invites NWT residents to join an online discussion about the proposed policy changes to the GNWT’s public benefits program, currently known as the Extended Health Benefits – Specified Disease Conditions program.
Email your questions about the proposed changes to shb_feedback@gov.nt.ca by Monday, November 14, or pose them during the live Q&A portion of the event. Questions will be compiled and answered during the virtual town hall. To conserve time, frequently asked questions will be combined and addressed once.
The virtual town hall will be hosted on Microsoft Teams at 7:00 pm MT on November 16. To join the event or for more information on the proposed changes, please visit the link below.

The proposed policy changes will help establish equitable access to important health benefits for all NWT residents. The changes will expand eligibility for benefits not covered by the NWT Health Care Plan. This initiative does not include any changes to the Extended Health Benefits for Seniors program. The extent of coverage for benefits will be determined by the resident’s ability to pay.
The virtual town hall meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the proposed changes, ask questions, or outline any concerns they may have.
