World No Tobacco Day

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — May 31, 2022

Today is the World Health Organization’s World No Tobacco Day, which provides an opportunity to showcase the resources available to residents to assist them in living a tobacco-free lifestyle.

From May 31 to June 14, the Department of Health and Social Services is asking residents to tell their quitting story for a chance to win prizes. Residents will answer the questions listed below and provide a photo (optional) of themselves to healthpromotion@gov.nt.ca to be featured on the World No Tobacco Day webpage and the Government of the Northwest Territories Facebook page.

  1. When did you quit smoking?
  2. How do you feel about having quit
  3. Was it difficult to remain smoke-free? What were the main challenges?
  4. What was the best thing for you about quitting?
  5. What advice would you give to someone who would like to quit smoking?

Providing your story is an opportunity to inspire your friends, family, and fellow NWT residents who may be struggling with an addiction to tobacco.
