Today is World No Tobacco Day and this year’s theme is “We Need Food, Not Tobacco,” which focuses on growing sustainable food crops instead of tobacco as a way to address the global food crisis. You can find out more about it here.
World No Tobacco Day also provides an opportunity to highlight the resources available to residents to assist them in living a tobacco-free lifestyle. Quitting tobacco can be difficult, but it is possible, especially with support. The Department of Health and Social Services (HSS) has resources available to all residents to assist with their quit journey.
You can call the NWT helpline at 1-800-661-0844, to speak with a trained responder who can help you or someone you love on their path to quitting. For more information and resources, visit www.gov.nt.ca/tobacco.
