Yellowknife Airport Security Exercise

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — December 8, 2025

Yellowknife Airport will be conducting a live security exercise on December 9, 2025, as part of our commitment to safety and emergency preparedness.

In accordance with the Canadian Aviation Security Regulations, aerodrome operators are required to conduct a live security exercise at least once every two years. This exercise is designed to test the effectiveness of the airport’s emergency plan in response to an act of unlawful interference with civil aviation.

What to Expect:

  • Increased presence of security and emergency personnel throughout the airport.
  • Simulated emergency scenarios, which may include loud noises and visible response activities.
  • Temporary access restrictions in certain areas.

Important Notes:

  • Scheduled flights will not be impacted.
  • This is an exercise. There is no actual threat to public safety.
  • Please follow all instructions from airport staff and security personnel.
  • Do not call emergency services unless you are experiencing a real emergency.

Your cooperation is essential to the success of this important training. Thank you for helping us keep Yellowknife Airport safe.
