Grand Chief, elders, community leaders, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for the opportunity to speak to you today. It is a pleasure to be back in Jean Marie River and to see many familiar faces.
There have been a few changes since the last Dehcho First Nations Annual General Assembly.
Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories is a diverse workplace, with employees working in many different locations and in a variety of capacities. Regardless of the kind of work they do, all employees have a fundamental right to be healthy and safe in the workplace.
Mr. Speaker, I am very pleased to advise this House that a ceremony was held earlier today to celebrate seven individuals who have made tremendous contributions to education in the Northwest Territories.
Mr. Speaker, June 21st is National Aboriginal Day.

YELLOWKNIFE (April 29, 2016) Premier Bob McLeod has named Ms. Kate Hearn as acting Deputy Minister of the Department of Lands.
Ms. Hearn replaces Mr. Mark Warren on May 8, who is retiring from the Government of the Northwest Territories.
