HOUSTON (May 5, 2015)- Good afternoon. It is a pleasure to be here today, and to participate in this panel discussion on behalf of the Government of the Northwest Territories, in Canada’s Arctic.

Thank you, I’m pleased to be here this morning with my colleague Minister Miltenberger to speak about the good news presented in yesterday’s federal budget.
Mr. Speaker, Northerners have long been known for their generosity and each year the Government of the Northwest Territories employees continue to show their commitment to building stronger, healthier communities by supporting the United Way NWT.
Mr. Speaker, today I would like to salute the members of our local film and television industry.
The Government of the Northwest Territories is committed to openness and transparency in conducting its business on behalf of the people of the Northwest Territories.
Mr. Speaker, the NWT is home to a small, but vibrant, manufacturing sector. We manufacture a range of products in the Northwest Territories – from signs and steel girders, to roof trusses, windows and fibreglass tanks.
Mr. Speaker, Northwest Territories residents take great pride in the beauty of their land and want to see the Department of Lands managing it in a fair, transparent and consistent way.
