Distinguished guests, Chiefs, honoured colleagues, thank you for the invitation to join you today. It is an exciting time in Canada’s oil and gas sector and in particular, in the Northwest Territories.
YELLOWKNIFE (November 27, 2014) – I was saddened to hear of the Yukon’s Alex Van Bibber passing away. Van Bibber was known all across the north and, up until he was 96, was an outfitter, miner, residential school survivor and honoured veteran.

Mr. Speaker, over the last few days the future of energy and the approach of the Government of the Northwest Territories to energy in the Northwest Territories has been explored, deliberated and discussed at length.
