Minister of ITI Officially Welcomes Members of PNWER

August 17, 2011 - Minister of Indutry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod officially welcomes members from the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) to the Legislative Assembly. Minister McLeod will host and chair the 2011 PNWER Capital Visit and Arctic Caucus in Yellowknife. MLA for Kam Lake and Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Development and Infrastructure David Ramsay will also be attending.

Pacific Northwest Economic Region Capital Visit in Yellowknife

August 12, 2011 - Canadian and U.S. Legislators and business leaders will meet at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) Capital Visit and Arctic Caucus in Yellowknife.

Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod will host and chair the 2011 PNWER Capital Visit and Arctic Caucus. MLA for Kam Lake and Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Development and Infrastructure David Ramsay will also be attending.

The Capital Visit will take place on August 17, and the Arctic Caucus will be held on August 18 – 19, 2011.

GNWT Funding Program Supports Tourism Growth in the Sahtu

July 22, 2011 - The Norman Wells float base is celebrating its Grand Opening after numerous infrastructure improvements have been made including: the replacement of docks, addition of a Hospitality and Interpretive Centre, and development of grounds for a Sahtu Aviation Museum. The improvements were made possible through $600,000 in funding support over four years through the GNWT Tourism Product Diversification and Marketing Program.

GNWT Provides More Support to the NWT Film Industry

July 19, 2011 - The NWT film industry has become one of the territory’s most promising sectors and is in a great position to grow, thanks to recent changes by the Government of the Northwest Territories.

Recognizing the promise of this vibrant industry, the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) has restructured the Film Commission staff and added a dedicated Associate Film Commissioner to provide support to the NWT film industry to better serve aspiring northern filmmakers.

BizPal Speeds up Processes for Businesses in Fort Simpson

June 7, 2011 - Starting and running a business in the Village of Fort Simpson has become easier thanks to BizPaL, an online business permit and licence service that saves time spent on paperwork.

BizPaL is an innovative service that provides entrepreneurs with simplified access to information on the permits and licences they need to establish and run their businesses.  BizPal is currently running in Fort Smith and Hay River, as well as Fort Simpson. Eventually all NWT residents will be able to use the system to assist with their small business.
