Department of Transportation recognized for innovative management

YELLOWKNIFE (AUGUST 29, 2012) – The Department of Transportation (DOT) has been recognized for innovative management by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC).  DOT was one of nine national finalists for the IPAC/IBM Award for Innovative Management for its New Aboriginal Engagement Processes for Planning Major Infrastructure Projects. The submission, which was for planning and consultation work required for the Mackenzie Valley Highway Project, came in second overall.

Gwich’in Forest Management Plan Signed in Fort McPherson

FORT MCPHERSON (August 16, 2012) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), the Gwich’in Tribal Council (GTC) and the Gwich’in Renewable Resources Board (GRRB) signed the Gwich'in Forest Management Plan: A Framework for Forest Management in the Gwich’in Settlement Area in Fort McPherson this morning.

The plan was signed by GTC President Robert A. Alexie, NWT Minister of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) J. Michael Miltenberger and GRRB Interim Chair Eugene Pascal.
