I would like to thank you all for the opportunity to speak to you today.

Thank you in particular to the Canadian Institute for putting on this very timely forum to discuss the logistical challenges – and opportunities - of operating in our northern setting.

Priorities

(June 14, 2013) - Good morning, my name is David Ramsay, and I am the Minister of Industry Tourism and Investment for the Government of the Northwest Territories.

As Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment I am responsible for supporting the commercial fishery in the Northwest Territories which is largely centered on Great Slave Lake.  This is the topic of my discussion with you today.

(June 12, 2013) - Firstly I’d like to thank the Tsuu T’ina Nation for inviting us onto their traditional land to participate in this year’s Dene Languages Conference . It is always a learning experience to go to other First Nations’ traditional areas to share common cultural interests.

Thank you, on behalf of Premier McLeod and the Government of the Northwest Territories, I’m pleased that you’ve decided to take this step.

(June 6, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, on May 31^st, 2013, in response to questions from Mr. Alfred Moses, Member for Inuvik Boot Lake, I addressed aspects of this Government’s plan to provide relief for the residents of Inuvik by introducing liquefied natural gas or LNG to the community.  I would like to clarify one point about LNG storage plans.

(June 6, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, the oil and gas activity in the Sahtu Region has the potential to grow and diversify the Northwest Territories economy; a key priority of this government. In the last few years, this potential has created many opportunities and challenges, for the people, businesses, and industry working in the area.

(June 6, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, I rise today to update the people of the Northwest Territories about the Government of the Northwest Territories Land Use and Sustainability Framework.
