Job Information

Are you ready to take on a dynamic dual-role position that blends legislative development with securities regulation? We are seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as both Legislative Advisor and Securities Manager within the Legal Registries Division.

In this unique position, you will operate in two key capacities:

Legislative Advisor
You will lead and support legislative initiatives for the Legal Registries Division. Responsibilities include:

- Providing strategic advice on legislative development.
- Coordinating legislative processes, including the preparation of briefing notes, consultation documents, and legislative proposals.
- Instructing legislative counsel and overseeing the drafting of legislation.
- Conducting policy research and leading policy development initiatives.

Securities Manager
You will oversee the daily operations of the Office of the Superintendent of Securities, which regulates capital markets and protects investors. Key responsibilities include:

- Supervising licensing and registration of firms and individuals dealing in securities.
- Assessing applications and filings, interpreting legislation, and issuing decisions on exemptions or relief.
- Conducting preliminary investigations and recommending enforcement actions.
- Advising on legislative amendments and participating in national regulatory initiatives through CSA committees.
- Reviewing and approving moderately complex legal documents and registration applications.

Knowledge Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the Securities Act, associated regulations, and national rules.
- Strong understanding of legal and legislative principles and practices.
- Experience with legislative development processes.

Key Qualifications
- A relevant university degree in either Public Administration, Business Management, Political Science, or Law. 
- A minimum of three years' experience in a policy, legislative, or program development setting.
